Search Engine Optimization
You may have a great site, but people need to be able to easily find it in order for your site to bring new clients to you. There are various methods that can be used to get your site registered with major search engines. The problem is, just getting your site registered is not enough - if your site isn't listed high enough in the search result list, your traffic count will suffer. The process of getting your site listed higher in the search result list is the whole point of search engine optimization (SEO).
Search engines are always changing their technology so as to maintain their integrity and authenticity. As a result, search engine optimization is a never ending process of tweaks and experimentation.
The Process
It starts out with analysis of your goals - what kind of traffic do you need? Is pay-per-click advertising appropriate to help achieve your goals? What is your SEO budget?
Once your goals are understood, the basic process is as follows:
Keyword Analysis
We begin by analyzing the search keywords that will bring you the best traffic. Not just quantity - but quality traffic that fits your target market. This includes analyzing your competition's strategy in order to understand what it will take to put your site ahead of theirs. Your site's content will then be optimized, paying special attention to these keywords. If necessary, the URL's of the pages of the site will be moved to accommodate the keywords also.
Competitive Analysis
Using a suite of specially designed tools, we will inspect your competitor's website, and their Internet marketing strategy. If their site is ranked well on a particular search engine, we will investigate how and why they achieved that ranking. This information gives us leverage, because understanding your competition is a key component of achieving higher rankings.
Updated Content
By far the most critical aspect is keeping the content of the site fresh and relevant. There are many ways to accomplish this, with the ultimate goal of creating interesting content that people want to link to. The use of blogs, newsletters, and press releases are some examples. The number of links, and the source of those links, are an extremely important factor in search engine ranking.
It's important to note again that the process explained above is not a one-time procedure. It must be done constantly and consistently to keep your site relevant and appear higher in search engine rankings.
